Delegates at the event were unanimous to strongly renovate the association’s operational method, focusing on encouraging its member farmers to get involved in building mechanisms and policies on agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

The VFA will directly implement programmes and projects on economic, cultural and social development in rural areas while improving its role and responsibility in agricultural development, building new rural areas and training farmers.

In addition to realising the guidelines of the Party and the State’s policies and laws, the association’s branches will boost services, consultations, assistance and vocational training for farmers.

The congress adopted a number of documents which demonstrate a high consensus among the members in viewpoints, policies, tasks and goals set out for the new development stage.

The congress called on VFA members and all farmers nationwide to uphold the traditions preserved by the Vietnamese peasantry and the spirit of “Solidarity, Renovation, Activeness, Integration and Sustainable Development” to successfully implement the resolution freshly adopted at the event.

The three and a half-day congress elected a 122-member executive board of the VFA Central Committee for the 2013-2018 tenure. Nguyen Quoc Cuong was re-elected as the association’s President.-VNA
