Twelve travel agencies in Moscow and St. Petersburge (Russia) conducted a fact-finding trip to Vietnam to learn more about Vietnam tourism.
Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Promotion Centre, said that the Russian delegation was interested in tourism products and infrastructure, and met with dozens of local travel agencies in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, from July 23rd to 25th. Their visit to Vietnam was jointly arranged by Vietnam Airlines’ Office in Moscow.
According to Mr. Thanh, the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines is operating 1 flight per week between Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa) and Moscow. As flights on this route will be doubled from October, the carrier has worked with Russian travel agencies to attract more Russian tourists to Vietnam.
This year, Khanh Hoa province is expected to welcome more than 100,000 Russian tourists.
Earlier, the Russian agencies visited Phan Thiet city in Binh Thuan province.
Meanwhile, Pegas Tourist Company, an international company bringing the most Russian tourists to Vietnam at present, studied tourist products in Vietnam for late 2013 and early 2014. During this period, the company, using its chartered jets, will fly Russian tourists to Vietnam every week.
Figures from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism show that in the first half of this year, Russia was Vietnam’s strongest tourism market, with nearly 154,000 tourists, a 60.4 per cent increase over the same period last year.
