(CPV) –
The Quang Binh provincial Social Sponsoring Centre and the “Vietnam Rising” Milk Fund on July 10 presented 26,000 glasses of milk to poor children in Quang Binh province, among the total 1,164,000 glasses of milk for Vietnamese children in 2013.

At the milk presenting ceremony, nearly 300 poor children in Quang Binh province had opportunity to meet, talk and play fun games with Miss Huong Giang, Ambassador of the program.

The “Vietnam Rising” Milk Fund not only wants to contribute to improving nutrition and developing the maximum physical and spiritual potential of Vietnamese children, but also wants to raise awareness and concern of society for the development of children, the future owners of the country.

In 2013, despite the difficult economic situation, the fund still continues its mission to give an amount of fresh milk worth about VND5 billion to children in difficult circumstances and powdered milk worth VND1 billion. The milk has just been produced on the most modern lines in Asia, at Vinamilk’s children’s powdered milk factory inaugurated at the end of April.

The quantity of milk will be directly given to centres bringing up orphans, disabled children and social sponsoring centres in 58 provinces and cities across the country for children to drink in three consecutive months for fresh milk and two months for powered milk. Therefore, the fund has so far given over 20 million glasses of milk, worth about VND75 billion to 286,000 poor children in Vietnam.

“The 5 year journey of the ‘Vietnam Rising’ Milk Fund has helped hundreds of thousands of children have the opportunity to drink milk more often to improve their physical condition and mind. So I appreciate the efforts of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and the ‘Vietnam Rising’ Milk Fund for the cause of protecting and caring for our children,” Mr. Doan Mau Diep, Vice Minister of Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, said.

In August 2013, the “Vietnam Rising” Milk Fund will present milk to poor children in Phu Quoc island district, Kien Giang province and Yen Bai province./.
