(VOV) – The financial sector should exert greater efforts to fulfill estimates for budget collection this year, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said.
In his speech at a July 17 online conference hosted by the Ministry of Finance in Hanoi, PM Dung said thanks to the combined efforts of the whole political system, the business community and people across the country, the socio-economic situation in the first half of this year saw positive developments, creating a premise for the successful performance of this year’s socio-economic development plans.
During the reviewed period, GDP soared by 4.9 percent and exports increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last year. The financial sector has, in part, contributed to stabilizing the macro-economy and foreign currency market and keeping inflation in check.
Dung asked the Ministry of Finance to closely work with localities and businesses to do well with price adjustments and supervision of value-added tax refunds, and the settlement of outstanding debts and debt evasion, while streamlining administrative formalities related to taxation and customs.
Ministries, sectors and localities need to work out their own plans to ease business difficulties, resolve bad debts, boost economic and trade activities and fulfill budget collection targets.
It is imperative to properly implement solutions for managing budget spending, practising thrift, preventing wastefulness and keeping budget overspending at a reasonable level close to reality, the government leader said.
Dung also asked the Ministry of Finance to strictly control market prices, especially the price of petroleum and oil, coal, electricity and other essential goods.
He emphasized the need to step up communication on managing budget collection and spending, with a view to ensuring social unanimity on fulfilling all the set targets.
