Quang Nam Province strives to provide vocational training to 10,000 rural workers in 2013

According to reports of Quang Nam Provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, until early 2013, the province had organized 396 vocational training classes for 12,126 rural workers. Of whom, 4,245 were trained in agriculture, 5,536 others in industry – service and 2,345 were trained in craft villages. At the same time, Quang Nam Province also trained and cultivated professional knowledge for 14,564 commune-level public servants.

The brightest spot in Quang Nam vocational training activities was the high rate of workers finding jobs after training (82.55 percent). The number of households having members trained escaping poverty or becoming well-off families was 3,866.

The two pilot agriculture and non-agriculture vocational training models of the province were also successful. Accordingly, 363 workers in Tam Phuoc Commune of Phu Ninh District and Duy Phuoc Commune of Duy Xuyen District were trained with industrial sewing, household carpentry, planting safe vegetables and high quality rice. At present, most of them have found jobs with stable monthly incomes ranging from VND2.5 – 3.5 million per person. Based on the obtained positive results, these two models are being expanded across the province.

According to the leader of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the high rate of workers having jobs after training in Quang Nam was attributed to the training quality. The province has well conducted surveys on the labor and vocational training demand of the local enterprises and workers to keep a suitable balance among training occupations. In addition, before each vocational training course, the province always commits with enterprises and training centers to take charge of the outputs to make sure trainees would be arranged jobs after their training courses.

Quang Nam Province has also invested appropriately in training facilities and infrastructure. In the past three years, it has established four new public vocational training centers in districts of Tay Giang, Phuoc Son, Nam Tra my and Bac Tra My, one new modeled vocational training center in Duy Xuyen District and seven regular education centers, vocational training centers and career orientation centers. Teachers and management officials have also been trained and cultivated professional knowledge.

The leader of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs also said in the coming time, to ensure the efficiency of vocational training activities, apart from promoting propaganda programs, the province will combine vocational training with other activities such as industry promotion, agriculture promotion and new rural area. It will also keep on investment in infrastructure and training facilities, encourage non-public vocational training centers and businesses to be involved in vocational training activities and mobilize proficient artisans, technicians and engineers at craft villages to give lectures and train at the centers. In 2013 alone, from the support funding of VND22 billion, Quang Nam Province will strive to fulfill the goal of providing vocational training to 10,000 rural workers./.
