(VOV) -A book featuring Vietnamese land, people and culture, written by Russian author Daria Mishukova, was introduced to local readers in Hanoi on July 5.

Mishukova’s book was first published in 2007 and reprinted in 2010. Prof. Ha Minh Duc said it is recognised as one of the most appealing Russian language books about Vietnam.

It presents a beautiful image of the country to Russian people and actively contributes to tourism promotion.

The book was translated into Vietnamese by the author herself and published in 2013, enjoying a warm reception from both readers and media critics.

Many Vietnamese travel agencies it as guidebook assistance for Russian tourists visiting the country.

Before beginning work on the book, Mishukova studied Vietnamese language and culture for ten years, focusing her doctorate thesis on the country and experiencing everyday life in most Vietnamese cities and provinces.

She hopes the book will give Vietnamese readers insight into foreign perspectives on their country and provide them with a frame of reference useful when meeting with overseas people for the first time.

Mishukova, a famous Orientalist and an expert in Vietnamese Studies, has published 30 research papers on Vietnamese and Thai linguistics and culture, in Russian, English, and Vietnamese magazines.

She is also the author of four books, three of them about Vietnam, and 20 articles for Aeroflot’s Inflight Magazine on historical sites and relics in Vietnam and Thailand.

Her contributions to Vietnam’s cultural diplomacy and tourism industry have been officially acknowledged a number of times.
