The whole nation pays gratitude to those who rendered good service to the nation

PANO – Marking the War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day, To Huy Rua, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee today visited and presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers under treatment at Military Hospital 110 of Department of Logistics under Military Zone 1.


During the talks with wounded and sick soldiers, Mr. To Huy Rua expressed his deep gratitude to their contributions to national liberation and defence cause and hoped that they would further contribute to the development of their locality.


Mr. Rua also praised efforts of party committee, directorate, doctors and staff of the hospital in taking care of patients’ health and asked the hospital to work closely with local party committee, authorities and people to have good care of people in remote areas and ethnic minority groups.

* Hundreds of Border Guards and Cua Viet Marine Police, local authorities and people in Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province today offered incense to those who had sacrificed for the cause of national salvation, resting at Trieu An – Cua Viet Martyrs’ Cemetery.


Earlier, on July 26th, hundreds of youths in Trieu An commune, Border Guards and Cua Viet Marine Police held a candle lighting ceremony at the cemetery.


* On July 26, Major General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army visited and presented gifts, worth VND 76 million to Long Dat Convalescent Centre for War Invalids and those who had rendered good service to the nation in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.


General Nghia praised efforts of cadres, doctors and nurses for taking good care of wounded and sick soldiers and expressed his admiration for sacrifices and contributions of wounded soldiers to the revolutionary cause and wished them to recover soon to build a better life and set bright examples for younger generation in the cause of national construction.


* Also on July 26th, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Commander of the Navy visited and presented gifts to families of martyr Nguyen Trong Kim and wounded soldier Luu Quang Vinh in Hanoi.


The admiral expressed the gratitude of the Party, State and army to the sacrifices and great contributions of heroic martyrs and wounded soldiers to the fight for national independence, reunification and construction. He encouraged these families to promote revolutionary traditions and live optimistically as well as asked local authorities to further support local policy beneficiaries.


* A solemn ceremony to mark the 66th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day and award posthumously the title, “Heroic Vietnamese Mother”, to 10 mothers with great sacrifices and contributions to national liberation, construction and defence cause was held on July 26 by the Phu Yen provincial People’s Committee.


Phu Yen province has 14,000 martyrs, 295 heroic Vietnamese Mothers, more than 6,000 wounded and sick soldiers, 8,000 POWs and over 67,000 people who had rendered good service to the revolution.


Following the beautiful traditions, “While drinking water, remember who dug the well” and “Gratitude”, over the past time, the provincial party committee, local authorities and people have paid special attention to taking care of families of wounded soldiers, martyrs and those who had rendered good service to the revolution through practical and meaningful activities. The province raised VND 21.5 billion for “Gratitude” fund, built 896 houses, repaired 311 others for policy beneficiaries, collected more than 12,000 sets of remains of martyrs and presented medical insurance to 11,500 people.


* Representatives from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Quang Nam province and around 400 youths in Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province offered incense to martyrs at Martyr Nguyen Van Troi Memorial House and at Martyrs’ Cemetery of Dien Ban district on July 26.


The participants upgraded the Martyrs’ Cemetery of Dien Ban district while the Clubs of young doctors of Quang Nam province and Dien Ban District provided free health check-ups and medicinces to 500 people who had rendered good services to the revolution.


On the occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union presented Vu A Dinh scholarships to 30 students of ethnic groups and children of policy beneficiaries and those who had rendered good service to the revolution. Quang Nam provincial Youth Union also handed over 20 “Light up dreams” scholarships to students with good academic results in the 2012-2013 school year.


The delegation from the Youth Union Central Committee, Youth Unions of Quang Nam province and Dien Ban district also presented 4 gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother, Policy beneficiary and families of wounded soldier and martyr and visited family of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu.


At 7p.m of the same day, a candle lighting ceremony to commemorate heroes and martyrs was organised at Martyrs’ Cemetery of Dien Ban district.


* On July 26, a delegation from the Standing Party Committee and Command of Military Zone 4 and leaders of its subbordinate units laid wreaths and offered incense at Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province and at Martyrs’ Cemetery of Vinh City to pay deep gratitude to late President Ho Chi Minh and those who sacrificed for national independence.


* Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, heroic Vietnamese Mothers, war veterans, commanders of Military Zone 7, Army Corps 4, Ho Chi Minh City Command, Border Guard Command and local people took part in the ceremony to mark the 66th anniversary of the War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh city.


Reportedly, since the begining of 2012, local authorities and people in the city built 200 gratitude houses, repaired 700 others, presented 488 golden books, worth over VND 630 billion, and raised more than VND 12 billion for “Gratitude” Fund.


* The Military Command of Can Tho City organised a get-together on July 26th to pay gratitude to wounded soldiers, heroes of people’s armed forces, heroic Vietnamese Mothers and relatives of martyrs and wounded soldiers. On the occasion, the command presented 240 gifts to the participants and handed over three comradeship houses to needy war veterans.


* Artillery Arm recently presented gifts to 226 wounded and sick soldiers, martyrs’ families, heroic Vietnamese Mothers while its cadres and troops upgraded martyrs’ cemetery, provided free health check-ups and medicinces to policy beneficiaries, built 10 gratitude houses to policy beneficiaries in provinces of Quang Tri, Thanh Hoa and Quang Binh and collect infomation and compile documents on 1,109 martyrs.

* Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company raised VND 240 million for the construction of 4 gratitude houses and presented VND 155 million to the “Gratitude” fund of the General Department of Military Industry and VND 50 million to Vietnam Martyr Families Support Association. The company also donated VND 150 million to support “Gratitude” fund and for gratitude activities.


* The University of Politics´ cardes visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries in the locality where it is stationed, upgraded martyrs’ cemetery and monument and helped local people harvest crops and repair houses.


* On July 26th, the Kien Giang provincial People’s Committee organised a solemn memorial service for 87 volunteer soldiers and experts whose remains were found and collected by the Search Team K92 Kien Giang during the 2012-2013 dry season in Cambodia.


As an official reveal, since 2001, Team K93 Kien Giang worked closely with relevant Cambodian partners to collect and repartriate 1,748 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, as a token of gratitude to those who had sacrificed for noble international mission.


* On July 25th, the Military Command of Hai Ba Trung disitrct, Hanoi city presented a gratitude house to Nguyen Van Chi, martyr Nguyen Van Duong’s father, in Nam Hai hamlet, Nam Phuong Tien commune, Chuong My district, saving books, worth VND 1 million each, to 5 policy beneficiaries in the commune. Besides, the unit also presented 800 gifts to policy beneficiaries and provide free health check-ups and medecines to 1,151 people.
