PANO – These days, central and local agencies, organizations and units nationwide have organised meaningful and practical activities to pay gratitude to those who rendered good service for the national independence.
* Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his entourage recently offered incense at the Dong Loc T-junction historical relic site to pay deep gratitude to those who sacrificed for the liberation of the nation. He said heroic martyrs will forever be bright examples of patriotism and spirit to fight for the national independence. Their sacrifices have been a symbol of the revolutionary heroism.
* On July 25th, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan visited and presented gifts to families of martyr Tran Van Luat, former Commissar of Naval Brigade 126; martyr Vu Phi Tru, former Captain of Ship HQ604 of Naval Brigade 125; and wounded soldier Nguyen Van Thom, former Captain of a clandestine ship. During his visit, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan said that the Party and State are always grateful for and acknowledge the great contributions of heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers to the national independence and reunification.
The same day, Lieutenant General Dao Duy Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, handed over VND 4 billion to the Central “Gratitude” Fund, making contributions to promoting the traditions of “While drinking water, remember who dug the well” of Vietnamese people. At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Minh Quan thanked troops in the whole army for their support of gratitude activities.
* A delegation from the Defence Trade Union Board presented a television set, three laptops and a camera, totally worth VND 100 million, to the Vietnam Friendship Village. The delegation also visited and inquired after Agent Orange children at vocational and special education classes and war veterans in the village.
* Binh Duong province recently sent 7 delegations to visit and present gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers, wounded and sick soldiers and martyrs’ families in the localities. The province also handed over 5 gratitude houses to needy policy beneficiaries.
* Division 302 of Military Zone 7 on July 25th spent VND 24 million to present gifts to 63 wounded soldiers and officers, whose relatives were martyrs, and policy beneficiaries in the locality where it is stationed. The unit also handed over three gratitude and comradeship houses, worth VND 60 million each, to its needy officer, non-commissioned officer and employee.
* The Tay Ninh provincial Military Command met with and presented gifts to 49 wounded soldiers and officers whose relatives are martyrs, and handed over a VND 70 million gratitude house to wounded soldier Tran Thi Sach in Tan Binh commune, Tay Bien district.
* On July 25th, a working delegation from the Naval Command of Region 3 visited and presented gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to local needy relatives of martyrs.
* Division 9 of Army Corps 4 inquired after and presented gifts to 68 wounded soldiers and officers, whose relatives are martyrs in Tan Thanh commune, Tan Chau district, Tay Ninh province on July 25. On the occasion, the unit mobilised its troops to help local people build local roads and repair welfare structures.
* Tank-Armoured Arm sent a delegation to present gifts to wounded and sick soldiers under treatment at Convalescent Centres in Phu Tho province and Thuan Thanh district of Bac Ninh province on July 25. The unit extracted VND 300 million from the “Gratitude” fund for gratitude activities.
* Over the past time, the Navy built 27 gratitude houses and repaired 5 others and presented 8 saving books to martyrs’ families and wounded soldiers who had fought to prevent the US blockade of torpedoes and magnetic bombs in Northern Vietnam. Units of the Navy also presented over VND 300 million in cash to three convalescent centres, 7 military hospitals and 549 policy beneficiaries.
* A meeting to exchange and honour martyrs’ families, wounded soldiers and outstanding examples in Hanoi and provinces in the North was organised in Hanoi on July 25th by the Tradition and History Education Centre. At the meeting, the centre presented 18 gifts, worth VND 60 million, to families of wounded soldiers and martyrs.
* 22 delegations of doctors and nurses from Hospital 103 of the Military Medical Academy presented gifts and provided free health check-ups and medicines to 3,000 policy beneficiaries in provinces of Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Ha Nam and Bac Ninh provinces and Hanoi.
* On July 25th and 26th, the Military Academy of Technology sent a delegation to visit and present gifts to policy beneficiaries in Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province, and 180 volunteer youths to take part in the “2013 Voluntary Summer” campaign in Dinh Trung commune (Vinh Yen district, Vinh Phuc province), Quyet Chien commune (Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province), and Minh An commune (Van Chan district, Yen Bai province).
Earlier, the Academy handed over a gratitude house to Duong Thi Bien, martyr’s mother, in Van Tien commune, Yen Lac district, Vinh Phuc province, provided free health check-ups and medicines to 530 policy beneficiaries in Tu Liem district of Hanoi and Vinh Yen district of Vinh Phuc province, and offered incense at martyrs’ cemeteries in the locality where it is stationed.
