QĐND - Thursday, July 25, 2013, 21:14 (GMT+7)

Vietnam wants to join hands with Haiti to effectively implement cooperation agreements reached in various areas for practical benefits to both countries’ development.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the wish at a reception for visiting Haitian Minister of Economics and Finance cum Minister of Industry and Trade Wilson Laleau, in Hanoi on July 24.

He said Vietnam and Haiti have enjoyed a traditional friendship and a fruitful cooperation over the past years.

“However, the two countries still see great potential for cooperation, especially in economics,” he noted, suggesting they increase the exchange of all-level delegations to boost their specific cooperation activities.

The PM affirmed that Vietnam is willing to share its experience with Haiti in socio-economic development, while encouraging and creating all possible conditions for its businesses to invest in Haiti in an equal and mutually beneficial manner.

Vietnam is also ready to boost trade with Haiti, especially products of its strengths and Haiti’s needs, he said.

For his part, Minister Wilson Laleau said Haiti will do its utmost to work with Vietnam’s relevant agencies to bolster bilateral cooperation in various fields. He expressed his wish that Vietnam will share its good experiences and models with Haiti in socio-economic development, education and training, and vocational training.

He said he hopes that the Vietnamese government and relevant agencies will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to seek investment opportunities in Haiti.

Haiti always welcomes Vietnamese firms to run long-term business in the country, especially in construction, garments, telecommunications and maritime transport, he stressed.

The minister suggested the two sides further promote trade, confirming that his country is ready to serve as a gateway for Vietnamese goods to penetrate into Central and South American markets.
