(VOV) – A lacquer painting exhibition was held in Venice on July 9 as part of the “Vietnamese Days in Venice” programme to celebrate 40 years of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic ties.
The event, jointly hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was attended by diplomats and officials from both countries, as well as Vietnamese expatriates and international friends.
The showcase included artworks by famous Vietnamese painters who shed light on contemporary viewpoints of life, through which audiences gain a better understanding of Vietnamese people and landscape.
Viero Erminio, an Italian senior official, revealed that Venice has signed a co-operative agreement with Venice Museum of Eastern Fine Arts, allowing visitors to the museum to view the exhibition on Vietnamese lacquer paintings and vice versa. This aims to create an opportunity for Vietnam and Italy to promote their fine arts, he said.
Also on July 9, more than 60 musicians from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) joined a concert at Fenice Theatre under the auspices of Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.
Famous violinist, Bui Cong Duy also performed at the event, marking the Vietnam-Italy Friendship Year in 2013.
The VNSO will continue their tour of Florence on July 11 to enthrall local audiences and give a special performance at the Italian Presidential Palace on July 12 at the invitation of President G. Napolitano.
