BTO – Over the past years, voluntary campaign has been one of the focal activities taken by the Youth organization in Binh Thuan Community College to cater the local communities. In which, blood donation has become the most outstanding movement in this school.
In 2012, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) of Binh Thuan Community College launched 3 charitable blood donation series at the school, several unscheduled ones in Binh Thuan General Hospital and other units, surpassing the assigned target of the year. In particular, 539 donated blood units were collected (the planned number is 170 units), performing 317 percent of the year plan. With such outstanding achievements, the school has taken the lead in blood donation movement among the bloc of schools and organizations in Binh Thuan.
Besides, the HCYU of Binh Thuan Community College has promoted a “live blood bank” and many volunteer blood donation clubs, attracting numerous of youth and HCYU members. These useful models have timely contributed to maintaining the supply of blood in hospitals to treat patients, especially emergency ones that need immediately blood confusion.
“In addition to scheduled blood donation sessions, members of volunteer blood donation clubs have been ready to give blood directly in case of emergency in Binh Thuan General Hospital about 4-5 times each month (donating 15-20 blood units/time). The school’s students are zealously give blood in the hospital if need be, even at mid-night (11-12 P.M) or when they are in school time”, said Mr. Nguyen Tien Anh, chairman of Binh Thuan Community College’s Student Association.
This practical activity has developed strongly in the school thanks to the great effort of youth organizations in planning blood donation programs and annually launching the “National Blood Donation Day” (April 7) among HCYU members and the youth.
Furthermore, a number of useful intellectual playgrounds focusing on voluntary campaigns for the community have been organized by Binh Thuan Community College HCYU in collaboration with other units. Specifically, the game “I and blood donation” has provided students with some helpful knowledge relating to blood, the social demand for blood and the work of charitable blood donation. Such playgrounds have contributed to encouraging and promoting the volunteer spirit to actively help the community and join hands in socioeconomic development of the locality.
