(VOV) – A host of cultural activities will be held across the country to commemorate Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).
Art performances
The online newspaper VietNamnet and Vietnam television have again collaborated on organising a Hanoi Opera House concert themed “Forever”, beginning at 2 pm on September 2.
The annual event presents classical Vietnamese works to local music afficiandoes.
Renowned singers Trung Kien, Trong Tan, Duyen Huyen, My Linh, Tung Duong, and Duc Tuan will join musicians including cellist Ngo Hoang Quan, pianist Do Hoang Linh Chi, and violinist Do Phuong Nhi.
September 3′s national Vietnam Music Day will also mark Vietnamese National Day.
The Vietnam Opera Ballet Theatre, Military University of Culture and Arts, and Thang Long Song and Dance Theatre have worked together on a performance programme running from August 31 to September 5.
Another Hanoi Opera House concert performing pieces by respected composers Nguyen Dinh Thi and Van Cao will be a highlight of activities on September 3.
Ba Dinh Square will host a special art programme entitled “Songs offered to Uncle Ho”.
Programmes for children
The Vietnam Circus Federation’s “Festival for Clowns”, scheduled for September 2, will celebrate Vietnamese National Day and usher in the new 2013-2014 academic year in Hanoi.
Kim Dong Publishing House will release a “Children at War” photography to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the August Revolution.
The book includes 100 photographs depicting the lives of Vietnamese children during the harsh war years.
Its publication follows the success of the “Children at War” photography exhibition held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from late 2012 to mid-2013.
