FM visits Mozambique to enhance traditional ties

The Hanoitimes - Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh paid an official visit to Mozambique from August 8-9 at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Odemiro Baloi.



The visit reflected the common desire of the two countries’ leaders to consolidate and enhance their traditional friendship and cooperation, said Minister Odemiro Baloi during the talks with his Vietnamese counterpart.


Both sides agreed to boost exchanges of delegations at all levels, closely coordinate at regional and international forums, encourage contacts between ministries and localities of the two countries, and maintain political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries.


Regarding trade and investment, the two FMs agreed to concretize measures to accelerate bilateral trade through the exchange of business delegations and conclusion of a memorandum of understanding o­n trade.


They also vowed to beef up cooperation in such fields like telecommunication, healthcare, education, and agriculture; create favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors to produce medicines in Mozambique.


During his two-day visit to the African country, FM Minh also paid a courtesy call to PM Alberto Vaquina who stressed that Mozambique’s launch of embassy in Viet Nam manifested his Government’s determination to bolster relations with the Southeast Asian country.


The PM expressed his hope that Viet Nam would assist Mozambique in tertiary education and vocational training.
