(VEN) – The Embassy of New Zealand in Vietnam celebrated Vietnam-New Zealand educational cooperation on August 6 in Hanoi. In attendance were New Zealand’s Ambassador to Vietnam Jerry Mateparae, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and many Vietnamese officials and students who lived and studied in New Zealand.

Jerry Mateparae said that New Zealand considered education as one of its top cooperation priorities and one of its five priority areas of strategic cooperation under its Action Program for comprehensive partnership between the two countries in the near future.

Educational cooperation between Vietnam and New Zealand has expanded via many specific programs such as the bilateral cooperative agreement on education and training, which was concluded in 2012, the project to develop children in Gia Lai Province under the New Zealand assistance program, English courses for senior officials and officers, and cooperation between Vietnamese and New Zealand universities, including the training alliance between the Victoria University in Wellington and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam./.
