Further friendship forged between Vietnam and Uzbekistan

(VOV) -The Vietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association plays a key role in strengthening cooperative relations between the two countries, said Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Uong Chu Luu.



Luu made the remarks at a ceremony held in Hanoi on August 25, to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and Uzbekistan’s Independence Day (September 1).


He expressed his hope that the association will deploy more practical people-to-people diplomatic activities to deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Uzbekistan.


The same day the 4th congress of the Vietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association took place for the 2013-2018 term.


Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong voiced his support for the association’s operational orientations in the new term, saying they will help promote mutual understanding, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.


He asked the association to seek more partners to increase its operational efficiency in the areas of economics, trade, culture and education.


He also conferred insignia on a number of individuals and organisations in recognition of their significant contributions to peace and friendship among Vietnamese and Uzbekistan people.

Luong Van Cu, former head of the NA’s Commission for Social Affairs, was reelected as Chairman of the Association in the 2013-2018 term.
