Hungary, Vietnam deepen cooperation

(VEN) – Hungary still considers Vietnam an important partner under its international development assistance policy and is willing to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in areas both countries have advantages in.

Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Semjen Zsolt told his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Thien Nhan on the official visit to Hungary from July 28-29.


The two countries will prioritize cooperation in education and training, focusing on training human resources in atomic energy and providing support for the Vietnam-Hungary Industry University to become an advanced education facility in Vietnam.


The two leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in agriculture, particularly livestock breeding, veterinary care, breeding, and safe water management and use.


The two parties will continue sharing their experiences in managing science and technology and carry out negotiations to quickly come to an agreement between the governments of Vietnam and Hungary on cooperation in training, research and technical management of atomic energy for peace. They will also encourage cultural and tourism cooperation through specific programs and activities such as exchanging artists and organizing film festivals and tourism days.


During the meeting, the two deputy prime ministers spoke highly of the effectiveness of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation and Hungarian Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects, including projects to provide clean water in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces and manage residents in the northern port city of Hai Phong.


Semjen Zsolt appreciated the Vietnamese community’s tremendous contributions to economic, cultural and social development in Hungary and affirmed that Hungary always supported them and would continue to create favorable conditions for them to live and do business in Hungary.


Nguyen Thien Nhan underlined potential and advantage for cooperation between the two countries. He recommended that both countries continue prioritizing economic, trade and investment cooperation and affirmed that Vietnam would provide support and favorable conditions for Hungarian investors to achieve success in Vietnam.


After the meeting, the two deputy prime ministers attended a signing ceremony for the exchange program between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources during the period from 2013-2015. Nguyen Thien Nhan proposed that Hungary quickly recommend a quality university for cooperation with the Vietnam-Hungary Industry University in science and technology, particularly in atomic energy.


During their stay in Hungary Nguyen Thien Nhan and his delegation visited the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, several economic, cultural and educational facilities and overseas Vietnamese representatives in the Hungarian capital of Budapest./.
