(VOV) – Vietnam and Laos signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Vientiane on August 10 to strengthen cooperation in publishing.
The MoU was signed by the Publishing Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Publishing and Library Department under the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
The two countries’ publishers will focus on the exchange of delegations, experience, professional skills, and management and publishing activities.
They agreed to increase the number of each other’s translated publications, and create favourable conditions for their printing and publishing businesses to establish partnerships for mutual benefits.
Shortly after the signing ceremony, Vietnam’s Publishing Department selected “Trước giờ nổ súng” (Before the shooting) novel written by Le Kham to be translated into Lao.
On this occasion, the delegation of Vietnam’s Publishing Department presented Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad 200 copies of a book co-authored by him and a Vietnamese friend. The book, published by the Vietnam People’s Army Publishing House, was translated into Vietnamese and English.
