(VOV) – A Vietnamese delegation led by senior lieutenant general Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army has paid a two-day visit to Thailand at the invitation of Thanasak Patimaprakorn, the Chief of Defence for the Thai Royal Armed Forces.

At a meeting in Bangkok on August 11, General Patimaprakorn welcomed the visit as a contribution to strengthening the friendship between the two armies since the signing of the national defence cooperation agreement in 2012 and the establishment of strategic partnership in 2013 between the two countries.
He emphasised the need to promote bilateral cooperation in education and training.
During their visit, the Vietnamese guests attended a grand concert to celebrate Thai King’s birthday with the participation of nearly 300 artists, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongcon, his wife, Army Commander, Air Commander, Royal Thai Police, Government officials and thousand of guests.
They also met with some defence commanders of ASEAN countries to discuss measures to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation among their armies for the benefit of building an ASEAN Community by 2015.
