Viet Nam had dropped 11 places to 156th in the world rankings in August, FIFA said.
The team did not compete in any tournament in the last month, playing only Arsenal on July 17, losing 1-7.
This is the second month in a row they’ve got down in the rankings. Last month they dropped 12 places.
The world top 10 is unchanged with European champions Spain still on top and Germany and Colombia second and third, respectively. Viet Nam are now No 4 in ASEAN, behind Thailand (world No 137), the Philippines (world No 141), and Singapore (world No 155).-VNS
