Quang Ngai Government, by its official document, has just proposed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on upgrading the system of Thach Nham irrigation works with the total investment capital of VND1,533 billion and expected to be implemented in 2015.
In which, VND 80 billion is used for dredging Thach Nham dam reservoir, upgrading operating system of regulator and sand drainage gate of nodal works by the automation systems. About VND 1,433 billion is solidified 57km of North – South main channel, 137km of channel level I and 115km of channel level II, III. In addition, VND 20 billion is also requested to improve the management capacity and work exploitation.
It is known that Thach Nham irrigation works were constructed in 1985 and put into use partially since 1991, serving about 30,000 hectares of agricultural production land, supplying water for living and industry, etc … Currently, many items of these works are becoming seriously deteriorated after 20 years of operation, so they need to be repaired and upgraded to better promote their using efficiency.
