PANO – The Signal University, on September 19th, announced the decision to upgrade the Signal Officer School into a university and started its 2013-14 academic year in the presence of Deputy Minister of Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.
Coming into being on November 11th, 1951, over the past 6 decades the Signal officers training school always fulfilled its assigned tasks in different stages of the revolution. The decision upgrading the school into university determined the school’s reputation in training and studying within the army education system.
Major General Le Dinh Hung, the university’s rector, stressed that the university will concentrate on building training programs and contents in practical and modern direction, while standardizing its staff and improving quality of scientific research with priority given to applying new scientific achievements and innovations in production.
Addressing the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh asked the university’s lecturers, cadets and staffs to continue thoroughly grasping the Party’s policy on education and training renovation; the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence’s resolutions on education and building regular schools in the new context. The General also asked the school to further improve their staff’s professionalism to meet the requirements of industrialization and modernization, hone strong stance and the ability to adapt to different environments and keep renewing its English training curriculum to meet growing demands of international cooperation in defence and international integration.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence believed that the university would bring its tradition into full play to gain more achievements in education and training.
