— General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong has met with local voters in two districts of Tay Ho and Hoan Kiem in Hanoi to receive their ideas to prepare for the sixth session of the National Assembly scheduled to start next month.
— National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has visited the central province of Ha Tinh to inspect the Vung Ang Economic Zone and introduced Government’s measures to promote the progress of industrial and economic zones nationwide, including in Vung Ang, the industrial hub of the northern central-region.
Society:
— The storm No.10, called Wutip internationally, is forecast to be the strongest storm so far this year, equivalent to the Son Tinh storm in October, 2012. It is getting more complex to forecast its move as it becomes stronger and faster as moving closer to the coastal area.
Business:
— Import-export and logistics firms should take advantage of free trade agreements and Incoterms, a set of international trade regulations, said Do Xuan Quang, chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) and also chairman of the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Association, at a recent workshop in HCMC.
— The Ministry of Finance has proposed to suspend and extend tax debt repayment terms for ailing businesses which would be able to commit to paying tax in the future given rising tax debts recorded recently as enterprises have toiled in the face of an economic downturn.
— MetLife Inc, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), and its insurance arm – BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) – have signed an agreement to establish a life insurance joint venture in Vietnam following memorandum of understanding that was previously signed by both parties in July.
