The first death of influenza A/H1N1 was reported in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien on September 25.
When brought to the provincial General Hospital on September 13, the patient looked pale, showing signs of respiratory breakdown and low blood pressure.
His blood sample tested positive to influenza A/H1N1.
