Following a request of the Minister of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authorities of Vietnam asked the Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to transfer Thanh to another position.

However, ACV said Thanh has resigned. The ACV has appointed Phan Le Hoan to take over the position of director from September 3.

On June 15, one customer on a Vietnam Airlines flight forgot his two Iphones after getting through security procedures, and the next person in line took them. After receiving the complaint, Thanh ordered that the flights of both travellers be delayed until the matter was cleared up. The delays lasted for about an hour.

Under regulation, only the head of an airport authority can cancel or delay a flight.

There was another issue, which occurred on June 30, involving a VietJet Air flight from Nha Trang to Hanoi. Employees at the airport forgot to transfer the luggage of 81 passengers, most of whom were travelling together as employees of a large firm.

When the flight arrived at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, the passengers made a scene but did not secure the transfer of their luggage until 8:40pm.
