On behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan signed Decision 1581/QĐ-TTg dated September 9th 2013 on planning activities to mark the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory.
These activities will be held to affirm the significance and great historical value of the glorious victory.
The anniversary will be held on May 7th 2014 in Dien Bien province, including an incense offering ceremony at A1 martyr’s cemetery at Muong Thanh precinct, Dien Bien Phu city, a meeting and demonstration.
A seminar on the Dien Bien Phu victory will be presided by the Ministry of National Defence; a special art performance to mark the 60th anniversary will be held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; a five-part documentary film about the victory will be shown. A book on the victory will be compiled by the Party Central Committee Commission of Popularization and Education; a publication about music in Dien Bien and the northwestern region will be compiled by Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee; other units will collect, and encourage groups and individuals to present objects and documents related to the victory to Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum.
The Prime Minister also asked provinces and cities to organize activities to mark the event; the Vietnam Television to broadcast the anniversary live; and Dien Bien province to organize fireworks./.
