Mr. Le Khac Huynh, deputy head of the Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Committee, said on September 11 that banks funding investment capital for metro construction project No. 5 from Saigon to the Bay Hien intersection, Phase 1, have completed their examination and agreed to contribute EUR857 million to build this line.
Of which, the Asian Development Bank contributes USD500 million, European Investment Bank (EIB), EUR150 million and the Spanish government, EUR200 million, with the remaining funding reciprocal capital of Vietnam

Metro route No.5 has a total length of 23.4 km, the first destination at Sai Gon Bridge and the last of Can Giuoc coach station in Binh Chanh district. The work is expected to start in 2015. This route will connect Metro route No.1 (from Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien) and Metro route No. 2 (from Ben Thanh to Tham Luong)./.
