A thermal power plant powered by rice husks, one of the 20 power plants in 6 Mekong Delta localities, will be built in Long My town, Long My district, Hau Giang province, by the end of December 2013.

Earlier, the Hau Giang People’s Committee has signed a number of contracts in preparation for plant construction.
Covering an area of 9ha, the project, with financial assistance of US$32 million from the Eximbank Malaysia and the Vietnam Development Bank, has capacity of 10MW.
Once operational, it will provide a clean energy source and contribute to protecting the environment in the region.
