On visiting Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday, RoK President Park Geun-hye commented that the city is a symbol of the fruitful economic cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

At her meeting with city Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai, the RoK President said that the city, the southern economic hub of Vietnam, is now home to more than 1,800 RoK companies and over 80,000 RoK nationals.
Secretary Hai, who is also a politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), described President Park’s visit as a significant contribution to boosting the relations between the two countries, added that his city has enjoyed close ties with many RoK partners.
Hai emphasized that relations between HCM City and RoK partners exist not only in trade, investment and tourism, but also in the expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
The Secretary expressed his hope that in the future President Park will pay more attention to support RoK enterprises to invest in Vietnam and HCM City in particular.
According to President Park, RoK businesses at first focused on the garment and textile sector and light industry. However, as the city’s investment environment have been improved and developed, RoK businesses have expanded their operations to various sectors, including high technology, electricity and heavy industry.
The RoK President said she believes that more and more RoK businesses will invest in HCM City and Vietnam’s southern provinces in the future.
She also expressed her hope that municipal authorities will give more support to the businesses, to help them develop well and make bigger contributions to the city’s economic development.
As part of her visit to HCM City, President Park visited Hansae Vietnam Company in Tay Bac-Cu Chi Industrial Park and had a meeting with the RoK business community in the city.
