Lao Cai Province’s Department of Science and Technology discovers violations, fines 65 million dong

During the first nine months of 2012, the Inspectorate of Lao Cai Province’s Department of Science and Technology carried out 06 inspections at 106 businesses, discovering violations of 06 businesses, applying caution to 04 businesses with the total fine of 66.5 million VND.


During the inspection of 20 businesses manufacturing and selling products in the categories of packaged goods, fuel oil and gasoline, and children’s toys in the areas of quality, metrology, and product labeling, an inspection team discovered violations of 06 businesses and applied caution, suspension of the circulation of those products, and made a decision to fine one business with the total fine amount of 20,000,000 VND (according to the request of the Branch for Standard, Metrology and Quality of Lao Cai Province).


On a sudden inspection of a business with regard to science and technology activities registration, certifying conformity of product quality with standards, inspectors found the business committing violation and fined it 21,500,000 VND.


Noticeably, during the large scale inspection of LP, fuel oil and gasoline at 85 businesses, inspectors discovered 04 businesses violating Vietnam’s standards in terms of the quality of fuel oil and gasoline sold. As a result, the inspectors requested authorities to apply sanctions to the administrative violations with the fine of 25,000,000 VND, and collect 19 fuel oil and gas samples (including 09 RON92 gas sample, 01 RON95 sample, and 09 diesel oil 0.05%S sample) for testing.


The inspection and sanctions applied to violating businesses have created significant and positive changes in the awareness of gas businesses, and at the same time, improved the coordination of relevant agencies in the management of fuel oil and gasoline quality to protect consumers’ legitimate rights.
