Following the Letter No. 62/CĐ-BKHCN dated January 11, 2012 of the Minister of Science and Technology on stepping up inspection and examination of gasoline, and the Letter No. 341/UBND-VX dated January 16, 2012 of Da Nang Province’s People’s Committee on stepping up inspection gasoline, the Inspectorate of Da Nang Province’s Department of Science and Technology inspected two gas businesses, i.e., the Gas Provision Station at No.2 Yet Kieu Street, which belongs PORTSERCO Joint Stock Company, and the Gas station at 20 Yet Kieu Street. From the information provided by people through the hotline of the Market Management Division, the inspection team undertook measurement and collected one gas sample for quality testing. The test found no sign of metrology and quality related violation. However, the team found out that the electronic number display of one fuel meter was not working. The company listed their fuel prices by writing them directly on the pole of the meter. The inspection team put a suspension on the use of this meter and requested the company to take corrective measures.

The same problem was found at the gas station at 20 Yet Kieu Street. The electronic display on one meter was too faded to read numbers on it. The inspection team requested that they take corrective measures by March 25, 2012.

The Department’s inspectors also joined with the inspection team of the Directorate of Standards-Metrology-Quality to inspect the Zone 5 Petroleum Company. They found no violation related to metrology and quality of gas at this organization.

The Department’s inspectors also worked with the Province’s Branch on Standards-Metrology-Quality to inspect the compliance with laws and regulations related to prepackaged goods of five shops selling coffee, and with the Division on Technology Management to inspect the radiation safety of Da Nang Women’s Hospital. No violation related to goods labeling and quantity was found at shops. Da Nang Women’s Hospital was also found to meet all the criteria for their license for carrying out radiation related work to be extended. All x-ray equipment at the hospital was also found to meet safety standards.
