The international non-government organization Loreto Vietnam Australia Program (LVAP) announced to hand over scholarships worth a total of VND190.5 million (US$9,200) to underprivileged school pupils in Ho Chi Minh City.
On Thursday, they gave scholarships to 62 visually impaired pupils of the Nguyen Dinh Chieu School at 184 Nguyen Chi Thanh Street in District 10. It costs VND124 million in total.
The organization will tomorrow donate 111 other scholarships to poor pupils in Hoc Mon District, including 109 packages each worth VND500,000 and two special packages worth VND6 million each.
With the motto of “lifting learners into the future”, LVAP has been active in giving aid to children for education by building and repairing kindergartens and donating equipment like computer rooms.
It has reached out to over 10,000 children through its projects since 1997, giving them support in various forms to foster an encouraging learning environment. Only in 2011, LVAP funded its projects with more than VND4.5 billion ($214,300).
