BTO – The ebullient and aggressive nature of the youth plus mercenary regardless of law are these main factors that push a number of youth into jails. On serving their sentences, thanks to the prisoners’ enlightenment and the help of superintendents, these convicts were able to get the fun on the national amnesty date.


On August 30th morning, amid the joyful atmosphere of the nationwide amnesty under the State President’s decision, the temporary detention center of Binh Thuan Police solemnly held ceremony to announce amnesty decision to offenders who had good behaviors during the process of doing porridge. In very early morning of August 30th, a crowded number of the prisoners’ relative and friends had gathered outside the detention’s gate on Thu Khoa Huan street, Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city. Inside the prison’s hall, where the ceremony took place, the atmosphere was no less exciting because the prisoners would soon return home to reunite with their families in the next few minutes. Both the amnestied prisoners and their inmates seemed to be added more strength for better improvement by mutual encouragement, handshake of congratulations and gently advice.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang (born in 1994, resident of Muong Man commune, Ham Thuan Nam district) shared that: “I can not shield my nonstop happiness when receiving the announcement of amnesty on September 2nd before the imprisonment terms expired”. Thanks to his diligence in taking care of dragon fruit, he was granted 5-month-remission. Likewise, Mr. Ngo Truong Hai (in Tan Hai commune, La Gi town) is now self-conscious of his past mistaken action of consuming stolen assets.


All offenders promised to be inclined to the good and start their lives afresh. Foremost, each of them will find a new job or continue their previous jobs to earn their livings. Most of them owned all the superintendents a great debt of gratitude after leaving this guilt place.


In this remission, the state president has granted a general amnesty for 65 offenders at the temporary detention center of the Binh Thuan Police. Senior lieutenant colonel Tran Phuong, superintendent at the detention center, said that: “all prisoners receiving this amnesty have much progress in labor and re-education and have completely executed additional punishments including: fines, civil compensation, civil and criminal costs. The process of considering reprieve was carried out in fair, democratic, public, and transparent manners in accordance with the current laws and regulations and in the other inmates’ agreement and support. At the amnesty ceremony, senior lieutenant colonel Tran Phuong launched emulation movement for prisoners in study, labor and improvement to receive lenience policies from the Party and State, especially in the forthcoming Lunar New Year – 2014. Accordingly, the offenders need to realize their faults, honestly repent and zealously remedy the aftermaths caused by themselves, strictly abide by the State laws and regulations of the detention center, self-improve their morality, and strive to redeem themselves by becoming useful citizens along with other inmates.


Colonel Nguyen Van Minh, deputy director of Binh Thuan Police said: Amnesty is one of the large policies demonstrating the lenience and humane tradition of the Party, State and our people toward convicted felon. The policy aims to encourage, educate and convert offenders into helpful members of the society. After returning home from jail, we hope all the prisoners no longer hesitate to rejoin the community in order to contribute to the overall development of the society, being deserving of such lenient guidelines and policies of the Party and State.
