A delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Thu Hong held talks on September 25 with representatives of the Lao Trade Union Central Committee.
At the talks, part of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Laos from September 24-28, the two sides briefed each other on the current situation of their respective trade unions.
They also affirmed their determination to further promoting co-operation between the two organisations, thus contributing to deepening the special relations between Vietnam and Laos.
During the talks, the two sides also reviewed their fine co-operation in the 2008-2013 period. The two trade unions worked closely to provide technical assistance and train staff, as well as to share experience and support each other at international forums.
The delegations signed a co-operation agreement for the 2013-2018 period, which will focus on providing refresher courses for Lao officials and enhancing information exchange between Vietnam’s Lao dong (Labour) Newspaper and the Lao Heng Ngan Newspaper.
They also agreed to continue high-level meetings and the exchange of delegations, while strengthening co-operation between trade unions in the two countries’ localities.
