Nhan Dan – XM The Vissai Ninh Binh beat SHB Da Nang 6-5 in a tense penalty shoot-out at Chi Lang stadium in Da Nang City on September 5 to bring home the 2013 Vietnam National Cup.
Both teams were evenly matched going into the game and the guest took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute with a score by striker Anh Tuan.
Enthusiastically supported by home fans, the V-League runners-up’s Argentine striker Gaston Merlo drew 1-1 with visiting The Vissai Ninh Binh at the fifth injury minute in the second half of the match.
The 1-1 draw forced the match to be decided on penalties. XM The Vissai Ninh Binh prevailed 6-5 in a tense shoot-out to take away the 2013 National Cup.
Sai Gon Xuan Thanh won the Cup at last year’s tournament after defeating Hanoi T&T.
