(VOVworld) – General Vo Nguyen Giap, the first General of Vietnam and the former Commander in Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army passed away at 18:08 on October 4th, 2013 at the age of 103.
General Vo Nguyen Giap was born on August 25th, 1911 in An Xa village, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province. General Giap used to be a teacher, a journalist, a historian, a revolutionary activist. Vo Nguyen Giap was a genius general, a clear-sighted strategist and army commander-in-chief and one of Vietnam’s brightest leaders in the Ho Chi Minh era.
Vo Nguyen Giap was considered by a great many researchers, historians and military men in the world as a “Great General”, “the greatest military talent in the 20th century” and “one of the greatest generals of all times”. He was one of a few personalities that became legends when alive./.
