Not only well implementing the responsible tasks on people’s external affairs, Phu Yen provincial union of friendship organizations (PUFO) also plays the role of the clue to mobilize support from NGOs for implementing the projects and programs to help the poor as well as difficult cases in the province.

BENEFITS FOR PEOPLE
The concrete and practical deeds by the provincial units, offices, particularly the PUFO in mobilizing the organizations and individuals to sponsor programs helpful for the people have confirmed the role of people’s external affairs tasks in the social-economic development; in improving and improving the material as well as spiritual life among the poor inhabitants in various localities. In detail, from the beginning of the year, PUFP has well maintained the project of volunteers SJ (France) to support the community; mobilizing and receiving books, story books supported by Room To Real organization for the province’ primary school pupils; the program of donating scholarships by Sunflower Mission organization (the USA) for good and fairly good students who are born into poor families, the supported amount is nearly 100 million dongs. Simultaneously, mobilizing the new construction of 6 classrooms, 1 school named Hoa My Dong numbered 1 primary school (Tay Hoa) with the total expenditure of over 2 billion dongs, supported by AHF organization (Korea); supporting the construction of 10 social houses, homes for low income families in Xuan Lanh commune (Dong Xuan district) with the total expenditure of 300 million dongs, sponsored by ACEF organization (Korea).
Recently, the PUFO has mobilized Loreto organization (Australia) to support the new construction of Xuan Thanh ward’s kindergarten (Song Cau town) with the total amount of nearly 2 billion dong; donating bikes and helmets to poor students in Tay Hoa district, the total support is nearly 237 million dongs; supporting over 50 million dongs for the program of improving the nutritious meals for the handicapped children at Phu Yen center for integrated educational development. Besides the programs mentioned above, the projects of FHF (Australia), MCNV (Medical Committee of the Netherlands and Vietnam), East-Meet-West organization (the USA)…are being implemented in some sectors and unions of the province. The PUFO is continuing to mobilize the NGOs to support the province, like Aide Et Action organization (France) with the project of 30 reading rooms-phase 2; or the Latter-day Saint Charities organization to support the project of 100 restrooms for primary schools in Dong Xuan district…
According to Ms. Pham Thi Tuong Lai, vice director of Phu Yen department of labor-war invalids-social affairs, the task of people’s external affairs is of great significance, making other countries to clearly understand the policies and directions of the Party, the State, helping the people to obtain knowledge in a selective way, learning from the precious experiences and elite of the world’s people. Through the task of people’s external affairs, the PUFO has contributed to advertising the images of the land and people of Phu Yen, simultaneously taking advantage of the approval, support, cooperation, help of international friends, the unanimity and contribution of our compatriots overseas.

Mr. Ngo Van Quy, chairman of the PUFO, let known, “Through the activities of the PUFO’s members, it’s been helpful in enhancing the mutual understanding and affection between Phu Yen people and other people all over the region as well as the world. In detail, with more than 5,000 members of 7 organizations belonging to the PUFO, lots of practical activities have been implemented, namely propagating, exhibiting, musical concerts, informal talks on the political events of other countries, like the Independence Day, the anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with other countries… Particularly, Phu Yen province has established the brotherhood relationship with Chung Cheong Buk province (Korea), at the very first steps, numerous cultural exchange programs have been held. The province’s organization of Vietnamese overseas’ relatives have also organized a certain number of activities to propagate to Vietnamese overseas to head toward the homeland, annually attracting hundreds of thousands USD from these Vietnamese overseas to do charity work. In the province, in the past years, the task of people’s external relations together with the state diplomacy has also received the close-knit reciprocal coordination. The above-mentioned activities have contributed to making the international friends to share the feeling as well as being closer to the province’s peoples”.
From the beginning of the year, the PUFO has exchanged and held working meetings with nearly 10 delegations, over 20 turns of people from the NGOs coming to the province to visit and implement the projects in the province, these are the Youth Clinc organization, SCC (the USA), SJ (France), Loreto (Australia), AHF, ACEF (Korea)…This is definitely a joyful signal, proving the nonstop efforts for the sake of the community in the task of people’s external affairs.
