During the implementation of the national program on building new style rural areas, since the beginning of the year, the southern province of Tra Vinh has mobilised VND400 billion to build the bridges, rural roads and irrigation systems across communes.
This is part of the effort to invest in essential infrastructure for 17 key communes conducting the program.
In irrigation works in Tra Cu district alone, since the beginning of the year, 93 projects have been completed, accounting for 146% of the plan, for which people have volunteered to donate over 174,000 square metres of land and crops on land, with over VND144 billion in mobilization for the program in the district.
Together with spending capital for infrastructure construction, the district has spent capital building production development models to raise people’s living standards, including on maize planting, chicken raising, shrimp raising and environmental protection.
For the program in general, the agricultural sector has invested and conducted technological transfer to 20 planting and breeding models which bring high economic value.
In this difficult economic period, the province has focused on building communal markets, communal cemeteries, communal waste disposal centres and cultural community houses.
In three years of implementing the program, the province has spent over VND1.4 trillion investing in socio-economic development in rural areas, contributing to making positive change in rural areas and remarkably raising people’s spiritual and material lives.
It will strive to complete the program by 2015./.
