50 leading European enterprises to visit VN

VGP – According to the European Union delegation in Viet Nam, Vice President of European Commission Antonio Tajani will visit Viet Nam from November 12-13.


He will be accompanied by representatives from 50 leading European enterprises.


The visit is intended to promote innovation, sustainable development and growth across all economic sectors.


The European Union (EU) is one of Viet Nam’s top partners. The two-way trade turnover surged from US$17.75 billion in 2010 to US$24.29 billion in 2011. Vietnamese exports to the EU rose 33.5% in 2011.


EU’s investment in Viet Nam accounts for 12% of the country’s total committed foreign direct investment in 2011. European investors have pledged around US$7.6 billion in 562 projects in Viet Nam.


The projects funded by European investors have high volume and rate of technology transfer, advanced management method, significantly contributing to economic growth in Viet Nam.


The bloc offered a record of US$1 billion in official development assistance in 2012. EU investors are present in all important Vietnamese economic sectors, with 562 projects capitalized at US$7.6 billion./.
