On November 7th, in Hanoi, the Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) coordinated with the Centre for Environment Training and Communication under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to organize a workshop entitled “Effective audience-based climate communication”.
The workshop was held before the 19th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Poland on November 11-22. Vietnam will attend the conference.
The event was a forum for state agencies, international and domestic organization and journalists to share information and discuss the improvement of effectiveness of climate change communications. It drew the participation of nearly 200 Vietnamese delegates and foreign organisation representatives.
Participants at the workshop agreed that communications could be improved by greater cooperation between relevant state agencies, legislators, scientists, journalists, project officials, and the community.
Tran Phong, Director of the Centre for Environment Training and Communication, stressed the importance of clarity, simplicity, and timeliness in public relations campaigns. Climate change communications must work in unison with each other./.
