Pianist Dang Thai Son, one of the world’s leading pianists, was the first Asian to receive the First Prize and Gold Medal at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1980. He began studying piano in Hanoi with his mother (People’s artist Thai Thi Lien, one of co-founders of the Vietnam National Academy of Music in 1955), then a professor at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

Dang Thai Son has performed in more than 40 countries and on concert stages such as Lincoln and Barbican Centre (London), Salle Pleyel (Paris), Herculessaal (Munich), and Musikyerein (Vienna).

This year’s event will include a series of activities including concerts, master classes, artists conversation, lecture and lecture-recital conducted by famous Vietnamese and world-renowned pianists.

In an effort to provide opportunities for the piano faculty, students and classical music enthusiasts in Vietnam, the festival is an occasion to promote professional arts activities, to exchange learning experience, professional skills and knowledge, moreover, to contribute the quality of cultural life in Ho Chi Minh city and to be one of the most prestigious musical events in the nation./.
