PANO – Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on December 17th chaired a meeting of the organizing committee of the Defense Journalism and Literature and Arts Awards 2009-2014 on the themes of armed forces, revolutionary wars, and armed forces in the national construction and defense.

After four months, the committee has received more than 3,000 works in eight fields, including literature, music, dance, theater, cinema, fine art, photography and journalism. Most works are in line with the main themes and awards regulations, meeting the set quality criteria. The committee has named 186 works for awards, including 19 first prizes, 35 second prizes, 54 third prizes and 78 consolation prizes. The committee also asked the General Department of Politics to grant certificates of merit to more than 40 civilian and military literature and arts and press agencies for their significant contributions to the promotion and dissemination on the themes of the armed forces and people’s national defense disposition over the past 5 years.
Addressing the meeting, the general highly appreciated the press and literature and arts agencies and writer and journalist staff of the whole country for positively participating in the event, confirming the award prestige in the society. The committee has worked hard to select outstanding works for prizes.
