PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Deputy Minister of National Defence, on December 17th received General Dalbir Singh, Chief of the Indian Army, at the Headquarters of Defence Ministry.
The host laid stress on the fine development of Vietnam-India defence ties, especially after the two sides signed the memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation in 2009. He believed that the Indian General’s visit to Vietnam would contribute to enhancing friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two armies, in correspondence with the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The guest briefed the host on the outcomes of earlier talks with Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff. He also wished to further develop Vietnam-India defence ties in the time to come.
Speaking highly of the working results, the host suggested the two sides soon realize the reached agreements, making contributions to promoting bilateral defence cooperation between Vietnam and India.
At the talks with general Khanh, the two sides reviewed the results of cooperation of the two armies over the past time and discussed measures to promote the cooperation in the coming time. They agreed to underscore cooperation in delegation exchange, education and training, information exchange and peacekeeping operations.
