(CPV) -Since 2001, enterprises in Ho Chi Minh city (HCMC) have poured capital into 23 export processing zone and industrial parks in 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region, with more than 1,000 projects in the fields of agriculture, aquaculture, transport infrastructure, urban areas, trade business and tourism, according to the Southwestern Steering Board.
Total registered capital of enterprises in the southern hub investing in the region totals VND263.9 trillion. Kien Giang province attracted the most, with 115 projects and registered capital of more than VND117 trillion. Long An ranked second, with 628 projects and more than VND88 trillion.
Following them, according to rank, were An Giang, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh.
From 2007 to now, after the An Giang People’s Committee and the HCMC People’s Committee signed an agreement on socio-economic development cooperation programme, 42 enterprises in HCMC undertook 54 projects in the province, worth over VND6 trillion.
The projects focused on the main investment fields of commercial centres, supermarkets, food processing, aquaculture, industrial production, transport connection infrastructure and residential areas. Of these, 26 projects have been put into use, 14 projects are being implemented and 14 projects are under planning./.
