(CPV) –
The annual event “Hanoi run for children” (HRC), raising funds to support poor children with cancer and heart disease, will be organized on November 17.

This event is co-organized by the Canadian Embassy in Hanoi, the Vietnam – Canada Friendship Association (VCFA) and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Can Cham).

The HRC has collected over VND1.5 billion and attracted nearly 7,000 people to register for the event.

“Support commitments from sponsors have been a great source of strength, which not only raises the spirits of paediatric patients and their families, but also establishes honour among doctors and workers of the hospital,” said Dr. Tran Minh Dien, Vice Director of the National Hospital of Paediatrics and representative for beneficiaries from the charitable program.

HRC 2013 not only a significant charitable program, but also an event to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Canada.

“We are honoured to be part of an event promoting honest values, equality and responsibility for people to help and support each other in any circumstance”, Mr. Alexandre Legendre from the Can Cham said.

This year, People’s artist Le Khanh and Miss Vietnam World 2007 Ngo Phuong Lan will travel with the event.

In 2012, the program collected over VND1.2 billion to support poor children struggling with cancer and heart disease at the National Hospital of Paediatrics and Hanoi Heart Hospital.

The program was first organized in 2009 and has attracted broad community participation to help poor children patients. Each year, about 5,000-7,000 people join the event, raising funds of over VND1 billion.

The Hanoi run for children 2013 will take place on Sunday morning, November 17, on the grounds of Ciputra Hanoi International City./.
