(VOV) -Pratibha Mehta, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam has praised the Vietnamese Government’s outstanding leadership in the institutional One-UN reform.

At a November 22′s annual United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) meeting in Hanoi, she reiterated the UN’s support for Vietnam’s continuing poverty reduction and Millennium Development Goal efforts and pledged UN agencies and international donors will work to ensure Vietnam maintains its leading role in UN reform schemes.

The One-UN initiatives accord with Vietnam’s development agenda, Ms Mehta said, and pursuing them offers Vietnam the chance to draw on the resources and expertise in each of the UN’s organisational arms.

She highlighted the successes of the five-year One-UN pilot programme implemented in Vietnam and acknowledged the Vietnamese Government’s unwavering commitment to the reforms as a decisive factor in its early results.

The One-UN initiative in Vietnam is attempting to ensure coordination between all UN agencies operating in the country deploys their combined expertise, experience, and capacity with the absolute minimum of waste.

Its six pillars are One Plan, One Budget, One Leader, One Set of Management Practices, One Voice, and the Green One UN House.
