VN-Czech Republic friendship fuels bilateral cooperation

While celebrating the Czech Republic’s Independence Day in Ho Chi Minh City, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Martin Klepetko has said the traditional friendship between the two countries have vigorously fuelled bilateral cooperation.


The Ambassador was speaking at a ceremony to mark the 95th anniversary of the Czech Republic’s Independence Day in the city on Thursday, October 31.


The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Ho Chi Minh City’s chapter of the Vietnam-Czech Republic Friendship Association (VCFA).


The traditional ties between Vietnam and the Czech Republic is special with practical activities, including the Czech Republic's recognition of the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority group of the country, the diplomat said.

He also expressed his belief that future cooperation between the two countries in all fields will be further deepened with many specific activities for the interest of both peoples.


Speaking at the ceremony, VCFA Chairman Nguyen Muoi said the Vietnamese people will always remember the support and assistance of the Government of the Czech Republic in the struggle for national liberation as well as the reconstruction of the country.


In recent years, the two sides have maintained regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations and signed many cooperation agreements, laying a firm foundation for their long-standing cooperation.


Vice President of the Czech Senate Miluse Horska, who is on a visit to Vietnam, also attended the even, saying that the two countries now not only focus on economics but also expand ties into the cultural field and further their traditional friendship through specific activities.


On the same day, Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting with Miluse Horska, during which both sides showed interest in cooperation in the health sector because it has strong potential in the Czech Republic.
