Army Corps 16′s founding anniversary observed

PANO – Army Corps 16 on December 6th held a solemn ceremony to mark its 15th founding anniversary (December 8th, 1998) and receive the second-class Labour Order by the State President, in the presence of Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Over the past 15 years, the unit has planted 13,600ha of rubber and pepper, earning nearly VND 3,000 billion, built 164km of road and social welfare projects, helped 5,400 local people, including 1,900 of ethnic minorities, develop their daily lives, and created jobs for 12,000 people.


Addressing the celebration, General Khanh lauded the unit for well promoting the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and their “dare to think, dare to do” spirit to fulfil its assigned tasks, and urged the unit’s troops to focus on increasing training quality and combat readiness, unite with local authorities and people, and build economic-defence zones, making contributions to building strong defensive areas and defending the nation.


On the occasion, Major General Vo Quyet Chien, the unit’s Commissar, was also conferred with the President’s third-class Labour Order.
