— President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan Sunday had a meeting with the overseas Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane, where he spoke highly of the overseas Vietnamese community for their successful integration into Laos. The meeting is part of his activities during the two-day visit to Laos.

— All of the 11 fishermen of the Hai Xuan 116 ship were Sunday rescued by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCC) Zone III after their vessel ran aground off Lagi coast in Binh Thuan on Saturday.
— A raging fire on midnight Saturday engulfed the house of Phan Hong Phong, 39, of An Giang Province, killing all three members of his family. Phong is a scrap trader, and his house was full of inflammable materials at the time of the incident.
— Ho Chi Minh City’s District 8 police are looking into the case in which a 13-month-old baby died of severe brain injury after being taken care by Vu Thi Bich V.,34, an unlicensed babysitter. On Sunday, V. fled her locality following the news that the baby had died at the hospital.
— Three college students were severely burned while eight motorbikes were completely destroyed after a fire broke out at a rent house on Doan Van Bo Street in District 4 early Sunday morning.
Business
— There were 6,829 newly-established businesses across the country in November, with a total registered capital of VND37.6 trillion, according to figures from the Ministry of Planning and Investment. This is a 14.6 percent increase in terms of the number of businesses, but a 7.2 percent decrease in capital volumes.
— Local cooking gas suppliers on Sunday simultaneously increased retail prices by up to VND79,000 per 12-kg cylinder, sending prices to the record high VND491,000 a cylinder. The highest price prior to this new height, recorded last year, was VND480,000 a cylinder.
— Christmas ornament sellers are unhappy as consumers do not seem to be in the mood of preparing for the coming holidays, even though it is traditionally one of the biggest shopping seasons of the year.
— Farmers in Ben Tre are jostling to chopping down their coconut plantations to give space to the shrimp pools as whiteleg shrimp prices have skyrocketed to the record VND200,000 a kg.

— Muc Tim (Violet Ink), a well-known weekly magazine for teenagers, marked its 25th anniversary birthday on Sunday with a warming yet exciting event at Hung Vuong High School.
— Rockstorm 2013, the most-wanted rock show of the year, kicked off its first show in Hai Phong on Saturday night. Rockstorm 2013 will tour Hue, Da Nang, Bien Hoa, HCMC, and Hanoi from December 7 to January 11, 2014.
Sports:
— Japanese First Division club Consadole Sapporo has offerred a monthly salary of $10,000 for Vietnamese striker Le Cong Vinh should he agree to extend the contract with it. Vinh returend to Vietnam on November 29, after fulfilling a four-month temporary transfer from his home club Song Lam Nghe An.
