Thinh got 41,311 votes from audiences to bring home a cash prize of VND400 million.

He was followed by 17-year-old dance sport athlete Hoang My An from HCMC. It was a pity that erobic/apparatus athlete Dang Dinh Loc, 23, from HCMC came third even though his performances were extremely fantasic and awesome. Pham Thi Ngoc Anh, 20, from Haiphong pocketed fourth prize.

The selection of SYTYCD winners was based on the number of text messages they got from their fans from around the country, so who received the most messages from audiences won the Vientamese version of America’s SYTYCD contest.

Prior to the contest, Thinh dropped out of school at grade ten in HCMC to study dancing in Hanoi with popular choreographers Viet Max and Ha Le.

Then he came back to town to earn a living and take care of his father who is paralyzed by a stroke. Thinh’s large family live in a rented home in a poor area so he decided to spend the prize money buying a house for his dad and also helped to fulfill his father’s wish to visit his hometown of Hue City.

Audiences can review the six-month installment of SYTYCD 2013 in a special night at 9 p.m. on Saturday this week on HTV7, VTV Can Tho 1, HN1, DRT, and YanTV.

The program was organized by HCMC Television, Dong Tay Promotion and YoMost brand.
