(CPV) - The Ho Chi Minh city Investment and Trade Promotion Center and the Japanese Business Association of Ho Chi Minh city (JBAH) on December 20 have co-organized a roundtable meeting between city’s leaders and Japanese business community.
The event was a good chance for Japanese businesspeople to voice their difficulties and propose suggestions to the city’s leaders, mainly in the fields of taxation, customs and transport.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Manh Ha told that the city’s relevant agencies need to exert every effort to deal with any obstacles met by Japanese companies.
The two sides have exchanged and finalized some practical issues such as administrative procedures in newly-granted or renewal work certificates for foreign laborers, additional 10-15% of media expenditure of the total firm’s spending, and wastewater treatment standards in the area of infrastructure.
“In the last several years, the city has reformed its investment and business environment. It also launched a number of action plans to facilitate operations by Japanese firms in particular and foreign investors in general. I hoped the city will enhance its support to Japanese entrepreneurs, as well as better its business climate to attract more foreign investors”, said JBAH Chairman Yamaguchi Kimio.
So far this year, JBAH welcomed additional 72 members, thus bringing the number of Japanese businesses operating in the city to 678.
In the first 11 months of 2013, Japan was ranked third among the countries and territories investing in the city, with 112 projects worth over USD101 million./.
